I am an L&D leader with five years of experience in training facilitation, coaching, instructional design, and employee onboarding.

In 2021, I made a huge career shift from editing to learning and development. I joined the Editorial Training Department at Business Insider as the newsroom’s first Lead Training Coordinator, serving as the second-in-command for the Director of Editorial Training.

Together, we built out a library of more than 200 trainings for BI’s journalists, including workshops on topics like:

  • Digital and psychological safety for journalists
  • SEO tips and tricks
  • Legal training on defamation, newsgathering, and copyright
  • Finding your voice
  • Newsletter writing
  • and more!

I later was promoted to Director of L&D and led learning initiatives across all of Business Insider and EMARKETER.

In that role, I worked on these core training series:

  • Work Smarter: A series of trainings I hosted on time management, effective meetings, and managing your inbox. Each session included homework assignments.
  • Manager Training: I coordinated with an executive coach to set up tailored management training programs, reaching dozens of staffers each year.
  • Workplace Skills Training: I worked with an executive coach to bring universal workplace skills training on topics like feedback, communication, and more.
  • Panels: I pitched ideas for panels, sourced panelists, and facilitated the discussions.

I helped launch new software and trained staff on how to use it:

  • HRIS Launch: I created training materials for our switch to Dayforce and coordinated live training sessions with subject-matter experts on using the system.
  • Performance Management Software Launch: I created training materials for the launch of Betterworks and hosted live training sessions on using the system.
  • LMS Launch: I served as the project manager on our switch to Workramp, leading a project team across IT, HR, communications, and L&D departments. For launch, I wrote the comms and rebuilt hundreds of pre-created training materials in the new system. I automated onboarding training assignments in the system and used the LMS’s AI tools to create new learning materials.
